Surah Al-Fil is the 105th chapter of the Qur’an and consists of five verses. The Surah recounts the historical event of the Year of the Elephant, when an army led by the Abyssinian ruler Abraha attempted to destroy the Kaaba in Mecca. Abraha’s army included war elephants, which made it seem invincible. However, Allah intervened miraculously, sending flocks of birds that pelted the army with stones, causing their defeat.

The Surah serves as a reminder of Allah’s power to protect the sacred and His ability to destroy those who seek to harm it. It highlights that no force, no matter how strong, can succeed against the will of Allah. This Surah reassures the believers of Allah’s protection and serves as a warning to those who oppose His plans.

Surah Al-Fil Arabic Text

 بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ
أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ
وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ
تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍ

Surah Al Feel English Translation

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?
Did He not make their plan into misguidance?
And He sent against them birds in flocks,
Striking them with stones of hard clay,
And He made them like eaten straw.
